Florissant Presents 1st Disability Accessibility Award to Mattingly’s

Cajun Crab, Planet Fitness Coming Soon

    The Florissant City Council and the Disability Awareness Commission presented the Disability Awareness Commission Accessibility Award to Mattingly’s. Brain Hallows spoke to the council. He said that several years ago, a group with vision impairments decided to meet occasionally for dinner. They went to several different restaurants and eventually found Mattingly’s, where they have met for several years.

    This is the first Disability Awareness Commission Accessibility Award. Mayor Timothy Lowery said that Mattingly’s is a good business for the city and deserved the award.

   The council also held a public hearing for a proposed restaurant named Cajun Crab at N. Highway 67. This is in Florissant Meadows Shopping Center. Gerard Mudd spoke to the council about the restaurant.

   Cajun Crab will be a sit-down and carry-out restaurant. It will be open Sunday – Thursday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

    There will be no alcohol served. The owner said he may apply for a liquor license only for wine and beer. The council held a first reading

on the bill authorizing the special use permit for the restaurant.

   In other matters , the council:

    • Passed a bill approving a special use permit for Girls Getta Grip Gun Club, and education development center at 45 St. Anthony Lane.

  •  Passed a bill authorizing a special use permit to Planet Fitness for a fitness club at 175    Flower Valley Shopping Center.

    • Passed a bill authorizing the re-staining of masonry for 3230 Parker Road.

    • Passed a bill that will adjust the fees for use of various park facilities.

    • Approved a request to transfer a special use permit from Twinkle Enterprises, Inc. to Don     Asewe for the Subway restaurant at 62 Grandview Plaza Shopping Center.
