Named Ferdinand by people who had spotted him at St. Ferdinand Park earlier  this month, the colorful Mandarin duck was back on the park lake after the rare snow that blanketed the area last Thursday.
Even rarer than a November snow here, is spotting a Mandarin Duck in the U.S. The bird, a native of East Asia, has drawn many photographers to St. Ferdinand Park Lake in recent days to the delight of friends and fowl. The spotting of a Mandarin Duck in Central Park prompted hundreds to see that bird. Goes to show, the Big Apple has nothing on us! The big question in both cities, how did the
Mandarin Duck get there?
