Home Again While 2 ‘Norths’ Clash

This weekend two Spanish Lake High Schools, Trinity Catholic and Hazelwood East, are playing their third district football games at home while on Friday, Nov. 9 McCluer North plays a 7 p.m. game at Fort Zumwalt North
Friday at 7 p.m., Trinity Catholic (9-2) hosts St. Charles West (8-3) for the Class Three, District Three title. The winner plays November 17, 1 p.m. in the State Quarterfinal at Moberly or Southern Boone. However, if St. Charles West and Moberly win the game will be at St. Charles West.
AT A NEW TIME AND VENUE, Hazelwood East (8-3) and Mary Institute-Country Day School (10-1) compete for the Class Four, District Three title Saturday, Nov. 10, at 12 noon. The location is now St. Louis University High. The winner plays in the State Quarterfinal Nov. 17, 1 p.m. at Fort Zumwalt East or Hannibal. However, if MICDS and Fort Zumwalt East win then MICDS hosts the Quarterfinal.
In Class Five, District Three the winner of the McCluer North-Fort Zumwalt North game advances to the State Quarterfinal game Nov. 17, 1 p.m., at Wentzville-Timberland or Columbia-Battle. However if McCluer North and Timberland win then the Stars will host the Quarterfinal.
TRINITY CATHOLIC — The Titans may have ended the McCluer South-Berkeley football program following a Trinity 71-10 Class Three, District Three home Semifinal, Nov. 2. Last Month the Ferguson-Florissant School District reportedly announced that MS-Berkeley would be a STEAM high school in 2019-2020.
In the Oct. 26 district opener, Trinity whitewashed visiting Sumner 88-0. Against MS-Berkeley, Senior Isaiah Williams threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 147 yards and another score. Senior Bryce Childress and junior James Frenchie each scored two touchdowns (including a pass reception each). Senior Alphonzo Andrews rushed for two first half touchdowns while senior Casey Clark, a Girls’ Soccer Player, booted nine extra points.
HAZELWOOD EAST — In the Oct. 27 Class Four, District Three opener East won at home 50-6, defeating University City for the second time this season. Senior Torre Dyson threw for 110 yards and four touchdowns. Senior Jar’vion Hardimon and junior Jesse White each caught two touchdown passes. In the Nov. 3 District semifinal win over Jennings, 44-6 the Spartans scored 24 points in the second quarter and added 20 more in the third.
McCLUER NORTH, after a first-round bye, defeated visiting Fort Zumwalt South 33-6 in the Class Five, District Three Semifinal. Junior Travon Springfield rushed for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns and junior Angelo Butts added a pair of second half touchdowns for the Stars.
