New Principal Hired for Hazelwood Central High

The Hazelwood School District Board of Education  approved a recommendation to hire  Bruce Green as the principal of Hazelwood Central High School, effective immediately.

Green has more than 12 years of educational experience and has served  as the principal of Carnahan High School in St. Louis Public Schools since 2009. The 2013 U.S. News and World Report of Best High Schools in the nation ranked Carnahan High School as No. 23 in the state of Missouri.

The schools are ranked based on proficiency on state tests and college readiness.

“I am pleased with the experience in improving academic achievement that Dr. Green brings to Hazelwood Central High School,” said Superintendent  Grayling Tobias.

Under Green’s leadership, the first graduating class rate at Carnahan High School was more than 97 percent and the attendance rate exceeded 94 percent. Green also currently serves as an adjunct professor at Harris-Stowe University. He previously served as a middle school principal, high school assistant principal and mathematics teacher.

Green graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary administration from Harris-Stowe University. He earned a master’s degree in education administration from University of Missouri – St. Louis, and a doctorate in education administration from Maryville University.

Green is a recipient of the 2011 Adelaide Schlafly Education Award, a 2010 St. Louis American Salute to Excellence in Education Award, and a 2010 Pettus Foundation Excellence Award.
