They Continue Winning?
by Randy Gardner
This is the first year that I can honestly say that I haven’t paid a bit of attention to NFL football. The season is two weeks in and I couldn’t tell you a thing except that the Rams are 2-0. Is this surprise to anyone? You knew this would happen.
The franchise leaves St. Louis and then becomes a contender once again. I know it is early and they are only 2-0 but what a great start. They have a really strong defense and everyone knows that defense wins you games. I will be really curious to see if St. Louis fans will jump on the Rams bandwagon if they start to lead the division all the way.
Who would you root for in a Super Bowl with the Rams– For them or against them? I would be really surprised if anyone would answer that totally honestly. I think there are a lot of behind the scenes fans quietly rooting for the Rams out there. It’s okay if your one of them. The next best best is probably to root for the Chiefs since they are the closest team to us. They have been very good the last few years and I think they will be a contender this year also.
When will Real Fall Arrive?
Where is the nice Fall September weather. I have been mentioning to get out and enjoy a high school game and wear your sweatshirts and enjoy the ambience. Well that’s not happening. It has been hot, hot and more hot. There is still time to get out and enjoy, the season is only about half way through.
Football is not the only Fall sport though, soccer is in full swing also. There are a lot of high school and college soccer powerhouses around the St. Louis area. It’s just as much fun to watch. The seasons come to a head at the end of October and watch for playoffs in both starting in November. We may be wishing for those warm temperatures then.
As I wrap up, spend some time with the family. I know I always say this over and over and over but after we have seen some major tragedies over the past few weeks across the country. It all comes down to the ones that you care about and that you love. Take care of yourselves and the ones around you. Go for a walk, play golf or wiffleball. Just be together. Be thankful for everything even the small things.
Don’t wait for difficult times to tell someone how much you care for them. Parents be an example for your kids. Make it your goal this week to do that. Just one person. Tell one person. It will change your life.
