Miss Hazelwood 2018-19 Coronation

Young women, ages 15-18, who are Hazelwood residents can register to participate in the Miss Hazelwood 2018/19 Program. They need to have a desire to be involved in the community and enjoy representing the City of Hazelwood at a variety of social and community events. The Miss Hazelwood competition is not a beauty pageant, nor a talent show. Each candidate is judged on the following criteria: poise, personality, ability to communicate with others, willingness to represent Hazelwood, school activities, and volunteer work.

Live Entertainment-Midnight Piano Band

The Midnight Piano Band is a throwback to when bands actually played their instruments and sang on stage. There are no laptops, no backing tracks, no tricks or lip-synching. What you see is what you hear, and what you hear is awesome. The band loves playing classic piano rock hits from the 70s and 80s by artists such as Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and many others. They also perform the top song hits made famous by REO Speedwagon, Justin Timberlake, Garth Brooks, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga. The Midnight Piano Band prides themselves on professionalism and musicianship.

City Services Tent

The Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division staff plans to give away a limited number of these items to people who stop by the City Services Tent: car chargers, lunch bags, drink bottles, hacky sacks, chip clips, pumpkin bags, and a dog toy. Members of the Community Enrichment Commission (CEC) will have a table at the City Services Tent to pass out literature and to raffle off beautiful mums throughout the day. In addition, the CEC plans to sell Cotton Candy for $3 and pretzel rods for $1 for fund-raising purposes. The City’s Green Committee will have a presence at the tent as well to remind residents about Recycle Day on Sept. 15, and display a compost bin that will be available for purchase by residents for $10 each.

Community Service Opportunity

The Hazelwood Harvestfest is an excellent opportunity for area high school students to earn some of the community service time required for graduation. Interested students should contact their high school community service coordinator or call the Parks & Recreation Office at (314) 731-0980.
