Mayor Reminds Residents of City’s Trash Container Law

Mayor Robert Lowery wants to remind residents of the City’s trash can ordinance. The Florissant City Hall has received numerous complaints that some residents are in violation of this ordinance.

The ordinance can be found under section 220.070: Containers to be stored behind the front of the building. It states: that no garbage, yard waste, trash or refuse container shall be left in front of a building for more than twenty-four (24) consecutive hours without returning the same to an area behind the front of the building or an area acceptably screened from the street, except on Sundays when no garbage or refuse container shall be left in front of the building between the hours of 12:01 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The owner or occupant of any premises on which a container is located in violation of this requirement shall be deemed guilty of a violation hereof and shall be subject to the penalties provided in Section 100.080.

Anyone with questions or if you see a violation call the Health Department at 314-839-7652 or the Police Department at 314-831-7000.
