American National Baseball Teams to Finish Below .500 In SLABA Action

With the season ending July 11 and the post-season follows American National Baseball teams will definitely finish below .500 regardless of any post-season tournament action, in the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association.

The 18 and under team was 2-7-1 including 1-2-1 in the North Division prior to July 9 and does not include the scheduled July 26 game against Stallions 18. The Eagles won over Belleville (Ill.) East 17 (8-3) and the Easton STL Tigers 18 (16-6) while tying Stallions 17 (4-4, called after 10 innings). American National lost to Capitals 18 Maroon (2-1), Mascoutah (Ill.) 17 (7-6), JC Blazers 18 (2-1), South West Stars 18 (13-3-5 innings), Waterloo (Ill.) 17 (7-4), O’Fallon (Ill.) 17 (5-2), and Freeburg (Ill.) 17 (1-0). The Eagles were to play Capitals 17 July 9, Capitals 18 Gold July 10 and the South West Stars 17 July 11.

The 15 and under team was 2-10 including 2-6 in the North Division prior to playing the Easton STL Tigers on July 10 and it does not included a previously scheduled game against Mascoutah , Ill., on June 14. American National splits with Granite City, Ill. (winning 8-6 and losing 11-10) and Capitals Gold (winning 9-7 and losing 16-13), lost twice to Capitals Maroon (10-7 and 6-2) and Stallions (12-0 and 6-5) lost one game each to Blazers White (9-8), Scorpions (21-6), Belleville (Ill.) East (7-4) and Chaminade (12-2).

The 16 and under team are 1-9 overall, 0-4 in the North Division prior to a July 9 doubleheader against Stallions Gold, a July 10 game against the JC Blazers, which defeated the Eagles 14-13 on June 5 and a July 11 game against the Easton STL Tigers Black, which defeated the Eagles 14-4 on June 6.

The Eagles snapped a nine-game losing streak July 5 with a 7-6 win over the South West Stars, avenging a 16-6 loss on June Among the other losses are two each to the Capitals (18-2 and 7-5) the Stallions Blue (9-3 and 10-3) and the Easton STL Tigers Gold (11-2 and 6-4).

NORTH DIVISION STANDINGS PRIOR TO JULY 9 — In the 18 and under North, The Stallions 18 (8-3) lead followed by the Capitals Maroon (8-4) the Capitals Gold (5-3-1), the Stallions 17 (5-5-1), O’Fallon, Ill., 17 (3-4), Belleville (Ill.) East 17 (4-6-1), the Capitals 17 (4-7) and American National. In the 16 and under North the Capitals lead (10-4), followed by the Stallions Blue (6-4), the Stallions Gold (2-6) and American National. In the 15 and Under North the Capitals Gold lead (9-3) followed by the Stallions (8-3), Granite City (Ill.) (4-6), the Capitals Maroon (4-8) and American National.
