McCluer North Baseball Is Top Seed

After Sweeping Suburban 12 North

Class Five District Six is a six-team all-Suburban XII (12) Conference, North Division district and McCluer North won twice over each Suburban XII North opponent this season.

Therefore, after going through a 10-0 Suburban XII North sweep McCluer North will have to beat two of the league opponents to win Class Five, District Six. The Stars host the only game that is not at Hazelwood West, May 14 at 4 p.m. North takes on the winner of the Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m. game between fourth-seeded McCluer High and fifth-seeded Hazelwood East.

After the McCluer-East game defending district champion Hazelwood Central, seeded third, plays at Hazelwood West in an 11:30 a.m. game against sixth-seeded Riverview Gardens. That winner returns to West May 14 for a 4 p.m. game against the second-seeded Wildcats.

May 14 winners return to Hazelwood West for the May 16, 4:15 district final. The Class Five, District Six champion is home to the May 22 Sectional against the District Six Champion. The Sectional winner plays in the May 24 Quarterfinal at site to be determined.

The Class Five State Semifinal, third-place and championship games will be May 31-June 1. That will take place at Car Shield Field, formerly T.R. Hughes Ballpark, O’Fallon, Mo. It is the home of the Independent Frontier League’s River City Rascals.

CLASS THREE, DISTRICT FIVE — With Lutheran North hosting district Track And Field on Saturday the tournament begins Friday with three games at 4:15. They include the hosts and defending district champion Crusaders (seeded second) hosting seventh-seeded Sumner. Also, fourth seeded Cardinal Ritter playing fifth-seeded North Technical at Hazelwood Sports Complex and third seeded Metro St. Louis playing sixth-seeded Northwest Academy of Law at Cool Papa Bell Stadium in St. Louis

The Tournament continues May 14 as top seeded Trinity Catholic plays at home behind Christ, Light of the Nations (formerly Our Lady of Loretto) School. The Titans play at 4:15 against North Tech or Archdiocesan Athletic Association rival Cardinal Ritter. Lutheran North or Sumner plays Metro or Northwest in the other 4:15 game at LHSN.

The Class Three, District Five final is May 15 at Lutheran North and the winner plays at the District Six winner in the May 21 Sectional. The Class Three State Quarterfinal is May 23 at a site to be Determined. The State Semifinals, third place and Championship games will be on May29-30 at Car Shield Field

Lutheran North seeks their fourth consecutive district title, their eighth in 10 years, and is a seven-time quarterfinalist. Trinity has won four district titles, the last in 2010.
