Lutheran North, MICDS Hosts Track And Field Districts, Sectionals

Lutheran High School North and Mary Institute-Country Day School will be hosting the May 12 District and May 19 Sectional Meets, the beginning of the road to the State Championships May 25-26 at Jefferson City high School.

Lutheran North hosts a Class Three, District Three meet with boys and girls team from LHSN, North Technical, Trinity Catholic, McCluer South-Berkeley, Duchesne, O’Fallon Christian, Luth4eran High-St. Charles County, Northwest Academy of Law, Orchard Farm, Sumner, Winfield and Wright City. The top four finishers from each of the 19 Boys and 19 Girls events return to Lutheran North for Class Three, Sectional Two against qualifiers from District Four, hosted by California, Mo.

MICDS hosts Class Four, District Three that includes nine girls and boys teams, three girls’ teams and the St. Louis Priory Boys team. Boys and Girls teams are from MICDS, Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Normandy, Clayton, Ladue-Horton Watkins, Parkway Central, University City and Westminster Christian Academy. Girls’ teams are from Incarnate Word Academy, Villa Duchesne and Visitation Academy.

The top four finishers from each district event return to MICDS for Class Four, Sectional Two against qualifiers from District Four. Mexico, Mo. High hosts Class Four, District Four and includes McCluer High School.

CLASS FIVE AT PATTONVILLE — The Class Five, District Three meet will take place3 May 12 at Pattonville High School Stadium. The top four finishers from each event, boys and girls, will advance to Class Five, Sectional Two May 19 at MICDS, against qualifiers from District Four, hosted by Columbia-Battle. Competing along with Pattonville are boys and girls teams from Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, Ritenour, Francis Howell Central and Francis Howell North Also competing is a boys team from DeSmet Je3suit High.

The top four finishers from each sectional event advance to the State Championships May 25-26 in Jefferson City. Para Athletes will also compete in State.

PRIOR TO DISTRICTS — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer High, McCluer North, Pattonville, Ritenour and Riverview Gardens will join Kirkmw3ood, Parkway North, Rockwood Summit and Webster Groves in the Suburban XII Championships. Boys meet Thursday, May 3, at Kirkwood while the Girls will meet Friday, May 4 at Webster Groves.

Trinity Catholic and Duchesne were at O’Fallon Christian May 1 for the Archdiocesan Athletic Association Championships. McCluer South-Berkeley, Jennings and Normandy were at Parkway Central May 2 for the Suburban Central Championships. Lutheran North will host an All Comers Meet May 8. In addition, North Technical, which will be at Hillsboro Friday, will be in the All Comers Meet at LHSN.

HAZELWOOD CNETRAL GIRLS won the Clayton High Marion Freeman Meet April 27 at Gay Field as the Hawks scored 128 points, Blue Springs took second (93.5), followed in the top five by Pattonville (61), John Burroughs (59) and Hazelwood West (58).

Winners for Hazelwood Central include senior Aniyah Stiles, Long Jump (5’2”); senior Aisha Southern, 100-Meter Hurdles (14.19 seconds); senior Deja Ingram, 100-Meter Dash (11.87 seconds) and 200-Meter Dash (24.54 seconds); junior Danielle Frank, 400-Meter Dash (56.88 seconds); 4×200-Meter Relay (1:40.11) and 4×400-Meter Relay (4:04.7).

Competing in Para Competition is junior Amari Anderson,, 100 (25.97 seconds and 200 (53.69 seconds). Para events did not count in the team standings.

HAZELWOOD WEST GIRLS also had a winner at Clayton, taking first in the 4×100-Meter Relay (49.1 seconds).

BOYS AT CLAYTON In the Orange Division of the Clayton Marion Freeman Meet, April 27, Hazelwood West took fourth place (76) while Hazelwood Central was fifth (63). Blue Springs (164.5) won the Orange Division. In the Blue Division McCluer South Berkeley (92) was second to The Principia (114.5).
