Elect 2 New School  Members

Residents of the Hazelwood School District elected two new board memes to serve three-year terms on the school board: The two new board are

Elizabeth (Betsy) A. Rachel (top)  and Diane Livingston. (bottom)

They defeated two incumbents who were seeking reelection. Only two were elected on April 3.

Elizabeth (Betsy) A. Rachel is a stay-at-home mom who is actively engaged with the Hazelwood School District. She earned her master’s degree in social work from St. Louis University, and her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Maryville University. In addition, she maintains licensure by the State of Missouri as a clinical social worker. Rachel has several years of professional experience providing community-based social work services, assisting individuals throughout North St. Louis County to navigate through a multitude of challenging life circumstances.

Rachel is married with two young sons. She and her husband are active members of Florissant Valley Christian Church where their family attends and serves regularly.

Diane LivingstonDiane Livingston is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education, mathematics major. She received her master’s degree in education from Lindenwood University. Livingston resides in Black Jack with her husband of 44 years. They have two children who attended Hazelwood Schools, K-12. Both her son and daughter are graduates of Missouri universities and still live within the Hazelwood School District.

The board members-elect, will be sworn-in prior to the Board of Education meeting on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the district’s Administration Building, 15955 New Halls Ferry Road.

The district issued “pecial thanks” to incumbents, Desiree Whitlock and Rick Roberts for sharing their time, talent, and service to the students, staff, and the Hazelwood School District community for nearly 20 years of combined service. They will serve on the Board until their term expires on April 17, 2018.
