Hazelwood Central Girls Track And Field, coming off two consecutive second-place finishes in the Missouri Class Five State Championships, is coming off a third-place finish March 21 at the Wentzville-Holt High School Pow Wow Invitational Hazelwood Central scored 78 points at Holt, just one point behind runner up Columbia-Rock Bridge (79) and 41 points behind Pow Wow Champion East St. Louis, Ill.
Hazelwood West finished fourth with 66 points, just 12 behind Central. Senior Deja Ingram and junior Danielle Frank sprinted their way to a win each at Holt. Ingram won the 100-Meter Dash in 12.25 seconds while Frank won the 400-Meter Dash in 59.04 seconds. In the 200 Meter Dash Ingram finished second, in 24.69 seconds, while Frank was third, in 25.57 seconds.
Senior Aisha Southern finished third in a pair of 100-Meter Events. Southern managed to get through the 100-Meter Hurdles in 14.93 seconds then sprinted the 100-Meter Dash in 12.45 seconds. Freshman Dayna Reid finished second in the 400-Meter Dash (1:02.15) while the 4×200-Meter Relay team finished in third place (1:51.31).
HAZELWOOD WEST had a winner in the long jump while three relay teams finished second or third. Sophomore Nabria Nelson cleared the winning mark of 16’6.25” on her first attempt. The 4×200-Meter Relay team finished in second place (1:48.26) while the 4×100-Meter Relay (51.94 seconds) and the 4×400-Meter Relay (4:21.44) each finished in third Place.
McCLUER NORTH took home a pair of second place finishes at Holt. Sophomore Michelle Owens was second in the 100-Meter Hurdles, taking the event in 14.62 seconds while the 4×100-Meter Relay took second, in 51.51 seconds.
TRINITY CATHOLIC junior DeAyvion Smith won the High Jump as she cleared the bar at 5’5”, about five inches higher over four of her nearest competitors. McCLUER SOUTH-BERKELEY senior Brianna Brock was second in the Shot Put, heaving her 37’7” shot in her second attempt.
NORTH TECH FOURTH AT UNIVERSITY CITY — North Technical scored 104 points in the March 31 Charlie Beck Invitational but it was only good for fourth place. Webster Groves ran away with the meet title by scoring 404 points, Cardinal Ritter was a distant runner up with 216 and St. Joseph’s Academy finished third with 202, about 98 better than North Tech.
North Tech won the 4×200-Meter Relay as the Golden Eagles ran the sprint event in 1:49.84. Tech finished second in the 4×100-Meter relay as the Golden Eagles sprinted the event in 52.14 seconds.
Senior Jessica Myers, who averaged 20.4 points and4.81 steals in Basketball, sprinted to a second-place finish in the 100-Meter Dash (12.94 seconds) and to a third-place finish in the 20-Meter Dash (27.29 seconds). Junior Alexis McCaine threw the Discus 74’5”, and finished second, while heaving the Shot Put 22’11”, and finished third.
