North County Churches Uniting Presents Awards for Racial Harmony and Justice

n county churches uniting logoUnder the direction of Barbara K. Thomas and Rance Thomas, the North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU) celebrated its 13th Annual NCCU Awards Dinner on October 8. Senator Gina M. Walsh served as the keynote speaker.

This year’s awards recipients were:

• Community Service Award- Florissant Valley Kiwanis.

• Community Service Award- North Star District, Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

• Community Service Award- North County Incorporated Regional Development and Association.

• Outstanding Leadership Awards- Thomas F. George, Chancellor and Professor at the University of Missouri- St. Louis.

• Outstanding Leadership Award- Rick Stevens, president of Christian Hospital.

• Outstanding Education Award- Kimberly G. McKenzie, director of communications and marketing for the Hazelwood School District.

• President’s Award- St. Norbert Catholic Church and School.

NCCU consists of 25 churches of various denominations and non-denominations working to promote racial understanding and justice.
