Hot Cards Off to a Good Start Despite Cool Weather

BY RANDY GARDNER
We are just a few weeks into the Cardinals baseball season and it still doesn’t even feel like ball season because of the weather. It is really hard to get into the boys of summer some days it still feels like Winter. Hopefully, the weather will break here real soon and these dark dreary rainy days will make way for Spring Sunny Days.

Even though the days aren’t hot Albert Pujols is on fire with 4 home runs already. It is great to see him on a pace like this so far. The Cards after losing on opening day as of Tuesday are 6-2, in first place, so this is a great start. It is a really long season and we all need to be patient with this team, don’t get to excited if they are in first and don’t get to down when they struggle. There will injuries to players and this will allow young players to step in.

We must be patient through the hot summer days of watching the Birds, that is what makes it fun. In the end hopefully they will be there just like the Blues, making a run for the title.

How ’bout Those Blues

All season long I talked about how the Blues just needed to hang around and be there at the end, well they are there now by being the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now I know they just barely squeaked in but all that matters is that they are in.

This team gelled at the exact right time with all of the youngsters stepping up and coring when needed and then the veterans playing like they are on fire. The Blues will open the Playoffs with the Canucks and this should be a great test for this team. When you really add it all up though it all comes down to great goaltending and the Blues have one of the hottest right now in Mason.

As you have seen through the years, a hot goaltender can win you a Stanley Cup. Let’s
hope that this can be the year that all of the hard work of the front office of the Blues have put in to be fan friendly will pay off.

The only problem with the Stanley Cup playoffs is that they last all the way into June. It’s just too long of a season, like Pro Basketball.

River City Rage at 3-1

The River City Rage finally lost a game this past weekend and fall to 3-1. The team that I thought would go unbeaten throughout the year fell by 16 points to the Wild. The team will play at home again this weekend at the Family Arena and then the next 3 weekends also at home. So here is your chance to see the team in a long home stretch where they play their best football. Lighting up the scoreboard and lighting up the crowds. In the first 5 games of the year, the Rage has put up over 300 points on the board. That is a lot of scoring and excitement for the fans.

Remember it is golf season, so get out there and support the economy by playing a couple of rounds of golf and maybe picking up a new set of clubs. That’s what I always blame my game on is my horrible cheap set of clubs. There always has to be a reason for a bad round of golf besides that fact that most of us just simply stink at it, including me.
