Blues Need Just a Few More Points For Playoffs; Rams Could Train Nearby

BY RANDY GARDNER
I know last week I talked about the Blues and how they are on the verge of a playoff spot, well as of now, they are in. They have that 8th seed and since Jan. 19, the Blues have the best record in the NHL with over 20 wins. Could this team have hit its pace right when it needed too?

You look at the lineup also, there are a lot of young guys stepping up and playing very well. Right know we are without veteran Paul Kariya, who might make it back for the playoff run. How sweet would that be? It is just maybe that added piece to the puzzle that we need for a strong playoff run.

It would be great to see Blues hockey in June. We haven’t seen that in a long time.
I also talked about the Rams staying at home for training camp, but as more details
come out home doesn’t quit mean the training facility at Rams park. The team is now discussing SIU Edwardsville and Lindenwood College. This would be pretty cool as the teams would still be really close to home.

I know the fans of St. Louis are ready to grab back onto this team and give them a chance. The team is also looking at some throwback uniforms for this year. Do you like those? I particularly don’t like them. I think we need to add a bit of black in our uniforms. It seems like teams that have black on their helmet on their jersey just look tougher. I know it’s just a mental thing ,but isn’t football all mental?

Rams Accepting Cheerleader Applications

If you think you are in shape, a woman and can dance, well the Rams cheerleading squad might be looking for you. The team is accepting applications for cheerleaders right now. You can go to the Rams website for more information.

The women that are cheerleaders are much more than just pretty girls on the sidelines, they do several hundred hours of community service throughout the year— for different organizations and most of them are very highly educated.

So if you think you have what it takes, take a chance in life and go try out.

In other Rams news, Tory Holt visited the Jacksonville Jaguars, how about that? It almost seems fake. I cannot see this guy playing against us after all of these years. I hope he does well; he got a bum deal here in St. Louis, as has many other athletes that have gone on to do much bigger and better things after they said they were washed up. Go Tory.

Mizzou Made Great Strides on the Court

It was really sad to see Mizzou basketball season come to an end this week as UCONN stopped the train. The team just couldn’t get over that hump in that game. They would catch up and then they just couldn’t keep up. On the whole though, it was a great season for the Tigers, one that will likely boost recruiting and put a lot of money in Coach Mike Anderson’s pocket— if he stays.

How many of you still have teams in the bracket? Be honest! I have the big fat zero left, I won’t lie. (see column two weeks ago) It should be interesting. As of right now though, I will take Villanova to win it all.

Finally, have you heard about all of the stupid rule changes in the NFL? I not get on the web and check them out. I will talk more about them next week but as they stand we might as well just put a dress on the quarterback because he will never get his outfit even dirty. Isn’t football about being mean and tough and getting hit really hard?

This isn’t football anymore; it’s turning out to be patty cakes. Let’s keep the game real, as it was meant to be played when real men played the game.
