American National Baseball has seven players on their 18 and under team that will play on the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association North All-Star Team that will play Monday, July 31, at 6:30.
The Eagles also have three from their 15 and under team that will play on the SLABA West All-Start team that will ply Sunday, July 30, at 1 p.m.
Games will be at Car Shield Field, formerly T. R. Hughes Ballpark in O’Fallon, Mo. It is home to the River City Rascals of the Independent Class A Frontier League and last spring’s Missouri State High School Activities Association championships.
Named as 18U/17U North All Star starters are catcher Tommy Rupp (Pattonville), third baseman Andy Goss (St. Charles Community College-a Pattonville graduate) and outfielder Jimmy Boswell (Pattonville). Named to the pitching staff include Jake Kempfer (Hazelwood West) and Daniel Rinder (John Burroughs0. In addition, shortstop Blake Vaughn (St. Louis University-a Hazelwood West graduate) is named as a reserve while infielder Josh White (Northwest Missouri State University-a Pattonville graduate) is listed as an alternative.
Playing on the 15U West All Stars include starting third baseman Craig O’Connell (CBC), pitcher Landon Johnson (Hazelwood West) and reserve outfielder Jacob Webb (Hazelwood West).
SOUTH-WEST STARS — Hazelwood Central has three players on the 16 and under South All-Star team that will play in the Sunday, 4 p.m. game at Car Shield Field as reserves. They include pitcher Nathan George, shortstop D.J. Matteoni and outfielder Devon Matteoni.
Trinity Catholic reserve shortstop Matt Gantner (Westminster College-bound) will play on the 18U/17U South All-Star team while another reserve shortstop, Luke Gantner, will be on the 15U West All-Star team. Meanwhile catcher Paul Wilson (McCluer North) is an 18U/17U South All-Star Alternative.
AMERICAN NATIONAL 18U finished the season 6-8 including 1-5 in the North West Division. In the final four games of the season, all against the 17U teams, the Eagles defeated the Granite City, Ill., Warriors July 11 and the St. Charles Capitals 5-4 July 12 while losing to the Capitals 7-3 on July 10 and to the Belleville, Ill. East Lancers 17U team 14-4 in the 18U playoffs.
AMERICAN NATIONAL 15U finished he season 4-10-1. In the final three games tied Stallions Gold 9-9 July 12 and lost a pair of July 16 Playoff games to the St. Charles Capitals 11-1 and 14-0.
