Robotics teams from Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West high schools are competing at the 2009 St. Louis Regional FIRST Robotics Competition during Spring Break.
The competition is scheduled for March 19-21, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Chaifetz Arena at Saint Louis University.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a problem within a six-week timeframe using a standard “kit of parts” and a set of rules.

Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in competitions designed by engineers and other professionals. The St. Louis Regional includes teams from Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Admission to the robotics competition is free.
