Hazelwood Central First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Team 289, was part of the winning alliance at the FTC robotics competition held at St. Louis Community College-Meramec. All three Hazelwood Central teams finished in the top half of challengers. FTC team, 289 now advances to the Missouri State Championship in Rolla, Missouri on March 5.

Katie Allen, Hazelwood Central math teacher and robotics club sponsor, was thrilled about the Robohawks efforts.

“Our students did an amazing job during the competition and we should be very proud of their efforts, especially team captain Lawan Alade’Fa,” Allen said. “Alade’Fa has helped bring this team together and has lead them to an amazing victory!”

   The Robohawks have two more upcoming competitions: the St. Louis Regional Competition held at Chafitz Arena on March 10-12, and the regional competition in Cincinnati, Ohio at Xavier University on Mar. 31 – Apr. 2, 2016.
