The City of Hazelwood’s White Birch Bay Aquatic Center is in place for another season of aquatic fun in the sun this summer in North St. Louis County.
Opening day for this multi-million dollar water park facility was Saturday, May 27 and daily operating hours are from noon to 6 p.m. The facility offers a variety of amenities that appeal to people of all ages.
The prices for daily admission and season passes are the same as last year. “For the past several years, we’ve been holding the line on prices to ensure our residents get the most bang for the bucks they spend on summer fun,” Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Superintendent Doug Littlefield said.
“It’s the best value around to bring the whole family for a cool day of splashing around in the hot sun.” The amenities offered at Hazelwood’s White Birch Bay Aquatic Center are second to none when compared to other municipal water parks.
Not many places can boast about having two lightning fast water slides, one for tubing and the other for body surfing. The facility also has a one-of-a-kind, 360-degree bubble slide that kids can climb and bounce off into the water.
In addition, it provides a 600-foot lazy river that generates waves, a giant bucket that dumps hundreds of gallons of water over a colorful play structure, and a little tot wave pool with spray features and a shark slide.
For those who like to do lap swimming or bounce off diving boards, the Aquatic Center has a 25-meter competition pool, known as the “Shark Tank” which has two diving boards. Plus, the facility has a full-service concession stand that serves hot food, cold treats and refreshing beverages.
New Programs Added
Several new programs are being offered for both residents and non-residents at White Birch Bay. One of them is River Walking, a 12-session water exercise program that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 12 to July 19, starting at 6:15 p.m.
Another water fitness program being offered is called Aqua Boot Camp, which runs for 12 sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 12 to July 19, starting at 7:15 p.m.
There are also fun events for teens, adults and pooches. The facility continues its Bash at the Bay Teen Nights program for young people, ages 13-17, on June 16 and July 14 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Plus, there’s a new Hot Summer Night-Adult Swim event being offered on July 7 for people, ages 21 and over, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For those who wish to swim with their pooches, Hazelwood is offering a Dog’s Day at the Pool on Sept. 5 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
More information and prices on each of these summer programs can be found in the Parks & Recreation Activity Guide, Summer 2017 issue. In addition, White Birch Bay is available for private celebrations such as small children’s birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, and employee appreciation events.
