2 from McCluer North Take State Wrestling Medals; IWA Swimmers Take 3rd in State

Two McCluer North wrestlers and an Incarnate Word Academy swimmers took home state medals on Feb. 18. In wrestling at the University of Missouri Arena, McCluer North’s 280-pounds wrestler Mathew Wilke took second in Class 4, 285 pounds as Wilke lost 3-2 to Daterraion Richardson from Liberty North. Also McCluer North wrestler Cameron Young took 5th place in Class 4, 170 pounds.

IWA swimmer Elllie Wehrmann took third place in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.83 seconds and finished fifth in a 200-yard freestyle, in one minutes, 52.85 seconds.

Basketball

Cardinal Ritter boys and girls teams won Class 3, District 5. In Class 3, District 6, Lutheran North won the Girls while North Tech finished second. In Boys Class, Class 3, District 6, Lutheran North finished second to Northwest Academy of Law (St. Louis).

On Wednesday, March 1, Cardinal Ritter played Lutheran North Girls and Cardinal Ritter Boys played Northwest Academy Boys in the sectional at St. Charles West where the winners will play Saturday in the quarter-finals. The Class 3 state semi-finals are on March 9, third place on March 10 and the championships on March 11 at the University of Missouri.

Class 5, District 3 at McCluer North and Class 4 District 7 at St. Charles High started on Monday (this week) and will conclude by Saturday, March 4. For more information go to: mshsaa.org

IWA girls who took 4th place last year in state are the top seed in Class 4, District. Games started this week.
