Should St. Louis Root for the Cubbies?

Maybe It’s Time We All Rooted For the Cubbies

By Randy Gardner

Randy GardnerI am going to ask you a question that I thought I never would, but are you rooting for the Cubs during the playoffs? Come on, be honest. I think you actually are deep down inside, even if on the surface you say “no.” At least I am.

When the Cardinals are in the race no way, but the Cubs are a real cool story. You know that I like the underdog story and they have been the underdogs a long time.

I am writing this column on Tuesday morning. The third game between the Cubs and the Giants ended in 13 innings with the Giants winning.

As you know this later in the week, the curse might have hovered back over the Cubs and they are tied in the series or they picked themselves and are still living the World Series dream.

Either way, I had someone tell me that it is okay to root for any other team except for the Cubs.

Why not I asked. They said it is against Cardinals nation to do so. I am not sure that is true. There have been several, I mean several people that have told me that they are in the Cubs corner now. Whether they will do that publicly, I don’t know. Just be a fan, it doesn’t matter for you. Just love the game and love the story behind it…and that the Cubs now.

L.A. Fans May Soon Experience Frustration

Has the dream start for the Rams come to an end? I think it might have. It’s kind of like the story here in St. Louis, the team would get everyone thinking one way and having a bit of hope and then before you know it, it’s gone.

Los Angeles fans will soon understand the roller coaster of a ride that they experience. Unfortunately, one bad decision in the game against Buffalo cost the Rams the game.

At the end, Coach Jeff Fisher decided to a fake punt on 4th down and 7 deep in their own end and the punter got sacked. I am unsure about that call but it cost them the game. If the call works, Fisher is a genius, but it didn’t and we are all talking about him like we are now.

Winning is about taking chances whether in a game or in life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but you can’t win if you don’t try. I will give him credit for taking a chance because there was no one in the stadium that saw that coming. Are you still emotional attached to the Rams at all? The TV ratings from St. Louis when we get to see the Rams play have been tremendous Just like closet Cubs fans, there are still closet Rams fans—more than you think.
