Hope Cam Learned A Few Lessons After Loss

I have heard so many people say that they thought the Super Bowl was a big disappointment. I thought it was fabulous.   The game was not what was expected and I think that’s why many people thought it was bad.

For the most part, I think most people thought that Cam Newton was going to have another great game and live up to the flash that he has been portraying all year. I think that Cam is a great player but I hate his antics.

There is a way to go out and enjoy the game and play it to its fullest and there is a way that goes over the line.

Here is what I mean by that. How can I teach my kids on all of my teams not to totally showboat when that is what they see on often on TV and often portrayed by a role model? Cam’s post-game press conference was almost just the opposite of what he has portrayed all year long.

Remember, you should win with dignity and you lose with dignity. Many people that I have talked to have said that this game was a long time coming, that sooner or later the carpet would be pulled out from under him and it was on the biggest stage in the world. Will this change his demeanor? I don’t know.

I hope that the talented Newton puts his antics into perspective and realizes that he is a great player, maybe one of the best in the league right now, but if he continues to act like he does, other players will get tired of it. He is just one hit away from being out.

The defense for the Broncos was unbelievable. I told my sons that Von Miller would be MVP after the first couple of minutes. He played like a man on a mission. Anyway, another Super Bowl in the books. I wonder if from here on out they will ditch the Roman Number and just go with numbers.

Now on Board For Union Station Soccer Stadium

On the soccer front, how cool would it be or should I say how cool is it going to be to have a MLS franchise right here in St. Louis? I really think it is going to happen. I will tell you one thing, though, and that is that I have changed my mindset on the venue.

I always said that it needed to be in the County area but after seeing the plans for the old train station at Union Station, I think it would be awesome there. The only thing that concerns me about the area is parking.

When we went to see the Sporting KC team play last year in Kansas City, parking was so easy. It was easily accessible and made it very family friendly. I am not sure that can happen downtown due to limited parking spaces. I really think that a team here would flourish. I would support it, heck, if they opened it up to fan ownership I would buy in.

I think that is an awesome way of doing a team franchise. Fan buy-in. They do it in Seattle and it works great. Fans then have a stake in what they are watching.

As we quickly move through the winter months, I know everybody has probably been sick at least once this year. I caught the bug several days ago and can’t shake it. The headache, stuffed up head, chills and sweats. Right now it seems like everyone you talk to is either sick or just got done being sick. The reason I say this is that sometimes you don’t appreciate just being normal until you are sick. Wash those hands frequently and bundle up when you go out. It is no fun being sick. I am hoping that this does not spread through my family and we have to endure 3 sick kids. I am sanitizing every thing I touch. My wife has pretty much quarantined me to one room–luckily it’s not the garage. Think on the positive side of things. Spring will be here soon and then we can all get those Spring colds. Bundle up and stay warm.
