Another great weather day for the Veterans’ Parade was followed by a presentation of the Veteran of the Year award was held on Sunday, Nov. 8 The great weather help provided an enthusiastic turn-out to pay tribute to our veterans said Mayor Thomas P. Schneider.

This year’s Parade Marshal was Joe Quick, who was last year’s Veteran of the Year winner. The Veteran of the Year award went to: former Florissant City Councilman Patrick Stinnett, for his dedicated service in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He continues service to veterans and to the community.

Master Sgt. Carl Hargus was the master of ceremony. Mayor Schneider (US Navy Seabee Vet) and Councilman Jeff Caputa (US Marines Vet) addressed the assembly.

Sara Schuller and Sarah Miloshewski sang patriotic vocal selections and Florissant Police Chaplain Kevin McGhee from the United Methodist Church gave the invocation and benediction.

The mayor gave a special thanks to following organizations that provided the lunch during the presentation:

54th Street Bar and Grill for providing box lunches

Honey Baked Ham for providing box lunches

Hooters for providing chicken wings

Dierbergs for providing sandwiches

The Mayor also thanked the St. Louis County Veteran’s Coalition for organizing another successful Veteran’s Day Parade “And to all the participants and to all the people that came out to watch the parade and attended the award presentations of this year’s Veteran of the Year,” the mayor addeed.
