Incarnate Word Hosts Class 3, District 5 Softball As Top Seed

Incarnate Word Academy Softball will be one of 64 District hosts and the Red Knights will not only host all of the Class Three, District Five Tournament games but will also be the top seed.
Incarnate will play Thursday, Oct. 8, 3 p.m. against the winner of the Oct. 7 game between Jennings and University City. That game will proceed the 5 p.m. game between Riverview Gardens and McCluer South-Berkeley. Thursday’s winners play Friday, Oct. 9, 4 p.m. for the right to host the Oct. 14 Sectional against the Class Three, District Six winner.
HAZELWOOD WEST HOSTS CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT FIVE as the number three seed and the Wildcats hosted Hazelwood East Oct. 7 with the winner playing at second-seeded McCluer North, Thursday, 4:15. Ritenour is the top seed and will play host on Thursday, 4:15 against the winner of the Oct. 7 Hazelwood Central-McCluer game, played at Central. Thursday’s winners will play Friday, 4:15 p.m. at Hazelwood West for the right to host the Oct. 14 Sectional against the Class Four, District Six winner.
CLASS TWO — Wright City hosts District Four and opened the tournament Oct. 7 against Trinity Catholic with the winner playing top-seeded Bowling Green Thursday, 4:30. The other half of the bracket pits the Oct. 7 Louisiana-Elsberry winner against Lutheran St. Charles County, Thursday, 6 p.m. and the winners from Thursday play Friday at 4:30.
John F. Kennedy hosts District Three as the top seed and will play Thursday, 3:30 against the winner of the Oct. 7 Cleveland NJROTC at Lutheran North game. Principia follows at 5 p.m. against Metro or Brentwood, played Oct. 7, and Thursdays winners play Friday, 4:15. The District Three Champion hosts the District Four Champion in the Oct. 14 Sectional.
STATE Quarterfinal games are on Oct. 17 at sites to be determined after Sectionals, Semifinals and Third-Place games are Oct. 23 at Killian Softball Complex, Springfield, and the Championship games are Oct. 24 at Killian.
GIRLS TENNIS — HAZELWOOD WEST and INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY won district team titles and will be playing Saturday, Oct. 10, in Team Sectionals. Hazelwood West won at home over Hazelwood Central, 5-1, and won at McCluer North, 5-2, to win Class Two, District Four. Incarnate Word won at home over Riverview Gardens, 5-0, then defeated St. Charles 9-0 at Forestwood Park, Ferguson, to win Class One, District Five. Hazelwood West plays Saturday against Farmington at Kirkwood in Class Two while IWA plays Helias Catholic (Jefferson City) at Mary Institute-Country Day School in Class One.
