Walk Through History Unveils 24th Plaque Honoring John H. Londoff Sr.

Family and friends gathered in front of 855 rue St. Francois on Wednesday, Sept. 30 to unveil the 24th Walk Through History plaque in honor of the late John H. Londoff, Sr. before the last Wednesday Night Out festivities which was held at Hendels Cafe.

John “Johnny” Londoff, Sr. was a family businessman, veteran, philanthropist and celebrity. In 1940, John Londoff, Sr. founded Londoff Motors with his dad Harry. Mr. Londoff later joined the United States Marines and was in World War II.

Mr. Londoff was a huge supporter of the Variety Club Telethon and was named Man of the Year for raising millions for children with the help of his celebrity friends. His newspaper column promoted citizenship, philanthropy and community. In 1999, John Londoff, Jr. became President of Johnny Londoff Chevrolet and with his sons continues his father’s legacy of customer satisfaction and community service.
