Frank & Josephine Korte Honored with Plaque in Old Town Florissant
June 24 the city of Florissant and Old Town Partners hosted a dedication ceremony to unveil the 22nd Walk Through History plaque honoring the late Frank and Josephine Korte. This is the first plaque to have two people named on it.
Frank and Josephine married in 1943 and opened Korte Hardware, 610 rue St. Francois, in 1946. Devoted to family and faith, they made community service a priority and served as leaders in the fire department, the hospital, the Chamber, historical preservation, St. Ferdinand Shrine, Valley of Flowers, Knights, Rotary, Marygrove, and others. Married over 50 years, they raised 11 children.
The ceremony was held on the sidewalk in front of Kortes Custom Framing & Antiques before the first Wednesday Night Out festivities.
