Ferguson Hires Interim City Manager Ed Beasley Effective June 10

The Ferguson City Council has approved a contract with Interim Solutions, LLC, a municipal government staffing agency, to employ Ed Beasley as Interim City Manager effective Wednesday, June 10.

Beasley offers more than 27 years of experience as a local government manager, including 10 years as City Manager for Glendale, Arizona where he managed an annual budget of about $1.1 billion and a staff of over 2,000 full-time and temporary employees.

“We truly understand this is a very unique situation in the City of Ferguson,” said Mayor James Knowles III. “But our main focus and goal is to continue to provide the highest level of customer service to our residents and we are grateful that Interim Solutions, LLC and Ed Beasley are now a part of the team.”

Jeff Hancock, President of Interim Solutions LLC, said, “I am confident that with Ed’s guidance, the City of Ferguson can continue to build a stronger community until a permanent City Manager is hired.”

The total cost of the contract, including the city manager’s salary and a stipend for housing, for the full six-month term is $84,500. This is about half of the $130,000 salary and benefits package Ferguson has budgeted for a city manager in the 2015-16 fiscal year.

The contract with Interim Solutions is for a three-month term, with one possible extension of an additional 3 three months. Ferguson will continue seeking an executive search firm to identify candidates to fill the city manager position permanently.
