District Boys Golf May 4

High School Boys Golf will begin the road to the Missouri State High School Activities Association championships with District Tournaments on May 4.

That will continue with Sectional Tournaments on May 11. The top two district team finishers and the top 15 golfers from teams that finished third or lower in districts qualify for sectionals. However, any school, according to MSHSAA, that has four or five golfers in the top 15, regardless of district team finish, will qualify for sectional team points.

Finally, State Tournaments will be held May 18-19 beginning at 8 a.m. each day at four different courses, one per class. The top two teams in sectionals and the top 12 golfers from teams finishing lower than second or competing as individuals only will compete for state titles and the top 15 in state will receive medals. Again, any school that has four or five golfers in the top 12 regardless of sectional team finish will compete for the state team title and the top four teams will receive trophies.

Only four Florissant Valley area high schools will be competing in Boys Golf. Three of them in Class Four while the fourth will be in Class Two.

Hazelwood Central will be hosting Class Four, District Two which will be held at the Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Club in Maryland Heights on May 4 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Competing along with Hazelwood Central on the Par 70, 6807-yard course are Hazelwood West, McCluer North, Chaminade, Kirkwood, Ladue-Horton

Sectional Qualifiers from Class Four, District Two will be in Class Four, Sectional One, May 11, 8 a.m. at the Aberdeen Golf Course, Eureka competing against the Sectional Qualifiers from Class Four, District One. Rockwood Summit will be the tournament host on the Par 72, 7,100-yard course. Class Four State Qualifiers from Sectional Tournaments will compete in Sedalia at the Sedalia Country Club, May 18-19.

Trinity Catholic, the only other area school competing in Boys Golf and will be playing in Class Two, District Two May 4, time to be announced, at Bear Creek Golf Club, a Par-72, 7010-yard Course in Wentzville. Lutheran-St. Charles County, Archdiocesan Athletic Association rival of Trinity, will be hosting and other competing schools will be Grandview-Hillsboro, Herculaneum, John F. Kennedy, Orchard Farm, Principia, Festus-St. Pius X, Valley Park, Whitfield and Winfield.

Sectional Qualifiers from Class Two, District Two, will compete against Sectional Qualifiers from District One in the Sectional One Tournament, May 11, time to be announced, in Cape Girardeau. Saxony Lutheran, Jackson-Cape Girardeau, will host Class Two, Sectional One at Cape Girardeau Country Club, a Par-70, 6,208-yard Course. Class Two State qualifiers from Sectionals will head to Springfield, May 18-19 and will be at the Rivercut Golf Course.
