Valley of Flowers Parade Begins at Civic Center

 


The 2015 Valley of Flowers parade theme celebrates “Those Who Serve.” City and local municipal emergency responders’ vehicles,, many veterans groups and local government officials will join the Valley of Flowers Queen candidates, the current 2014 Queen and Court, floats, decorated and antique cars, marching bands, horses, dogs, and others. More than 120 units will participate this year.

Vehicle units and floats will leave the James J. Eagan Center at 1:45 p.m. and follow Parker Road to Florissant Road, where youth groups, special units, and marching bands join them from the Atonement Lutheran Church parking lot. The parade will follow Florissant Road, turn right on rue St. Francois, pass the official parade stands, and then head left on St. Ferdinand Street to Washington Street and into the Knights of Columbus fairgrounds.

After the Queen and Court are crowned, parade awards will be presented for best theme, best decorated car, best organization float, best commercial float, best antique car, best antique vehicle and best walking unit. Winners of the Pretty Baby contest will also be announced.
