Clark-Jackson Retires from HSD; Burke Named Associate Human Resources Supt.

The Hazelwood School District Board of Education has approved the retirement of Ingrid Clark-Jackson, associate superintendent of Human Resources. Clark-Jackson has spent over 30 years in education. Previously, Clark-Jackson served nine years in the Hazelwood School District as Hazelwood West’s High School Principal, and as an assistant superintendent of Human Resources. She served in the Ritenour School District as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and associate principal for 23 years.

Clark-Jackson will be teaching Masters’ and Doctorate level classes at Maryville University. She will also be consulting and coaching from her own educational consulting company, Seeds, LLC.

Julia Burke was appointed Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. For more than a decade, she served as assistant superintendent for Student Services overseeing multiple departments: alternative education, guidance and counseling, social work, school safety, health services, enrollment, and residency.

During this time, she was also involved in writing and securing a $6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop safe learning environments which promote healthy childhood development, mental health care, and prevent youth violence and drug use. She also spearheaded a district-wide active intruder training and revised all safety and emergency procedures. Burke has been an educator for more than 30 years in various roles. She previously served as director of special education for Hazelwood and Riverview Gardens School Districts.

Burke received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Disorders from Saint Louis University and a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis in Educational Administration.

“I thank Dr. Ingrid Clark-Jackson for her years of service in education and for her work with our students, staff and administrators,” said Grayling Tobias, superintendent of Hazelwood School District. “I want to congratulate these current employees in their new roles with the District. Each finalist had impressive accomplishments and experience in education, I am very pleased to welcome them to our leadership teams.”
