Florissant Valley Symphony Orchestra in Concert March 8

The Florissant Valley Symphony Orchestra will present a concert at 3 p.m. on March 8 at the Terry M. Fisher Theatre on the St. Louis Community College – Florissant Valley campus. The concert is free.

The orchestra will play the Zampa Overture from Herold, Symphony No. 1 from Beethoven, Prelude to Act III Lohengrin from Wagner, and Carmen Suite No. 1 from Bizet. Ivy Allen is the Music Director and Conductor of the orchestra.

St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley established the symphony orchestra for students and adult musicians from the community. In 2008, the orchestra joined in collaboration with the St. Charles Community College Orchestra. The size of the combined orchestras increased from 50 to 75 members, providing the opportunity to play larger and more difficulty music.

Each year the orchestra presents three concerts at the Terry M. Fisher Theatre and two at the St. Charles Community College. All concerts are free.
