North Technical Boys Basketball is seeded first in Class Three, District Six, to be played at Duchesne High, St. Charles while Cardinal Ritter, defending Boys Class Three State Champions, will host District Five and both Boys and Girls teams are each seeded first.
Both districts begin Saturday (Feb. 21) and will end, weather permitting Feb. 28. The District Five and Six winners meet March 4 at St. Charles West with the boys playing at 6 p.m. while the girls play at 7:45.
DISTRICT SIX BOYS — North Tech Boys begin district play Feb. 23 at 3:30 against Winfield followed by Orchard Farm against Wright City at 4:45. Then host Duchesne meets Elsberry at 6 p.m. and in a battle of non-Catholic Archdiocesan Athletic Association rivals Lutheran St. Charles County and O’Fallon Christian meet at 7:30.
On Feb. 26 the North Tech-Winfield winner plays the Orchard Farm winner at 5:30 while the Duchesne-Elsberry winner plays Lutheran St. Charles County or O’Fallon Christian at 7 p.m.. The Feb. 26 winners play Feb. 28 at 7:30 for the district title.
North Tech won 12 of their first 13 games inclduing 11 in a row and won the Winfield Tournament and their third straight Lutheran St. Charles County Nike Cougar Classic. The Golden Eagles since have been playing .500 basketball prior to home games against Riverview Gardens (Feb. 17) and Lift for Life Academy Charter (Feb. 18) but recent snows may affect those games.
DISTRICT SIX GIRLS — North Tech is seeded third and will close the first day of the Tournament Saturday at 4:30 against Orchard Farm after second-seeded Lutheran-St. Charles County plays Elsberry at 3 p.m. Host Duchesne is the top seed and opens the tournament Saturday against Wright City at 12 noon followed by the Winfield-O’Fallon Christian game at 1:30. On Feb. 25 North Tech or Orchard Farm plays Lutheran St. Charles or Elsberry at 7 p.m. while Duchesne or Wright City plays Winfield or Chrisitan at 5:30 and the Feb. 25 winners play Feb. 28 for the district title.
North Tech Girls, second to Cardinal Ritter in districts last year after taking fourth in state two years ago, took third place in the Fort Zumwalt North, Ritenour and Eldon Tournament.
DISTRICT FIVE BOYS — Weather permitting the nine-team tournament begins 11 a.m.Saturday with Metro playing Construction Careers Charter and the winner opens play Feb. 22 against Cardinal Ritter at 3:30. The tournemnt continues Feb. 23 Carnahan High of the Future against Lift for Life Charter at 5 p.m., Lutheran North aginst College Prep (of Madison) at 6:30 and Trinity Catholic against Northwest Academy of Law at 8 p.m. Semifnals are Feb. 26 as Lutheran North or College Prep plays Trinity or Northwest Academy at 4:30 followed by Ritter, Metro or Construction Careers aganst Carnahan or Lift for Life at 6 p.m. with the semifinal winners playing Feb. 28 for the district title.
DISTRICT FIVE GIRLS — Play begins Saturday after the Metro-Construction Careers Boys game with Metro against Northwest Academy at 1 p.m., host Ritter against College Prep at 2:30, Lutheran North against Trinity at 4 p.m. and Carnahan against Lift for Life at 5:30. On Feb 25 Lutheran North or Trinity plays Metro or Northwest Academy at 4:30 while Ritter or College Prep plays Carnahan or Lift for Life at 6 p.m. and the Feb. 25 semfinal winners meet Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. for the district title.
CLASSES FIVE AND FOUR DISTRICTS begin no earlier than Feb. 28 and end no later than March 7. McCLUER NORTH hosts Class Five, District Seven competing against Chaminade, St. Joseph’s Academy, Hazelwood East, Ladue-Horton Watkins and Ritenour while DeSMET JESUIT hosts Class Five, District Six, with Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood West in the field. In Class Four defending Girls State Champion Incarnate Word Academy, Jennings, McCluer South-Berkeley and Riverview Gardens are in District Six at Normandy (Collaborative) While McCluer is in District Seven at St. Charles West.
