HSD is 1st in State to have All Members MSBA Certified

Members of the North St. Louis County community attended the Hazelwood School District (HSD) Board of Education Master Certified Board Member (CBM) program recognition. All seven Board of Education members have achieved the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) Master Certification.

The celebration occurred at the beginning of the regular board meeting Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the HSD Board Room located at 15955 New Halls Ferry Road, Florissant.

The HSD Board of Education is the first school district in the state to have all members certified at the master’s level, the highest level of achievement that board members can attain.

The certification requires at least 40 CBM credit hours of training and professional development in the following areas:  student achievement, school law, finance, board operations, accreditation, and the Board’s participation in legislative advocacy for public schools.

Hazelwood School District Board of Education members who have received their certified board member (CBM) certification from MSBA include:

  • President Desiree Whitlock
  • Vice President Dr. Brenda Youngblood
  • Secretary Karlton Thornton
  • Treasurer Mark Behlmann
  • Director Cheryl Latham
