Mayor to hold meetings on trash hauling bids, Oct. 1 and 8

The first of two meetings to review the information from recent trash hauler bids will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m., at the James J. Eagan Center. The second meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., at the John F. Kennedy Center at Koch Park.

The city received five bids for a single trash hauler. The low bidder will be announced at these meetings. The base bid includes one time a week trash pickup, one time a week recycle pick up and two times a year bulky trash pickup.

“It is especially important for the people to understand that we had to find a way to make it convenient for people to recycle,” reports Mayor Robert Lowery.

The county made recycling mandatory and the mayor supports that effort by going to a single trash hauler.

There will be a 50 percent discount for seniors.
