F-F District, City of Florissant Host Festival of the Young Child

The annual Festival for the Young Child will be held on Saturday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the James J. Eagan Center, # 1 James J. Eagan Drive in Florissant.

Parents and their young children are invited to attend the festival sponsored by the Ferguson-Florissant School District’s Early Education Department and the City of Florissant. This free event will highlight a wide range of opportunities and services to expectant parents and parents with children from birth to age five, while providing many fun activities for the children.

Missouri Child Identification Program (MOCHIP), Healthy Kids Express Van, health care professionals, developmental and health screenings, community resources and social services will be on hand to provide free information and services.

Children will be delighted by costumed characters, sports activities, face painting, gymnastics, live animals, pony rides, games, inflatable castle, area museums and much more. Books will be available for purchase from the Scholastic Book Fair. Every child will receive a free book while supplies last.

In the past the “Festival for the Young Child” has been extremely successful. There have been as many as 2,000 individuals attending. Parents received valuable community information and services, as well as parenting information while their children enjoyed hands-on activities. Community organizations, social service organizations and education institutions made valuable contacts with each other and the general public.

All participants donate their time, effort, goods and services to the festival.
