Hazelwood Closes City Hall Jan. 19
Hosts 13th Annual Tribute for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The City of Hazelwood has announced that its City Hall will be CLOSED to the public on Monday, January 19, for Dr. Martin Luther King’s special holiday. The building will re-open for business on Tuesday, January 20, during its regular operating hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The City’s two recreation facilities, Civic Center East and the Hazelwood Community Center, will be OPEN on January 19 from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Local residents are reminded to mark their calendars to attend the 13th Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Sunday, January 18, starting at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Hazelwood Community Enrichment Commission for the past 13 consecutive years, this event will be held at Civic Center East located at 8969 Dunn Road in Hazelwood.
Admission is free and open to the public. Guest speakers for the program include the following individuals: The Honorable Judge Jimmie Edwards, 22nd Judicial Circuit Court and founder of the Innovative Concept Academy; Dr. Grayling Tobias, Superintendent of the Hazelwood School District; Hazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson; and 2014 Miss Hazelwood Briana Barr. Six-year-old Money Edwards of Hazelwood will be reciting The Gettysburg Address as well.
Special musical entertainment will be performed by the Hazelwood East High School Choir. The Reverend Desiree Davis, Assistant Pastor of The Antioch Baptist Church, will end the service with a Benediction and lead the audience in a traditional candlelighting ceremony honoring Dr. King’s legacy.
