Bouillon Party Jan. 18 at Taille de Noyer
The Florissant Valley Historical Society will host its Annual Bouillon Party on Sunday, Jan. 18. The party will be held at Taille de Noyer (located on the McCluer High School Campus) from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include homemade bouillon, snacks, desserts and old time fiddle music by Curt and Dennis Buckhannon, longtime favorites. Tours of Taille will be available at 2:30 and 3:30.
The Society continues to celebrate the early French tradition of Bouillon parties, frequently held during the holidays but always a winter party. In the early 1960s an old Florissant resident talked about the early Bouillon Parties held in the 1890s and described the party “as a house party usually held between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Hot chicken bouillon was served along with a small amount of meat, crackers, homemade breads and other snack type foods, all homemade. Folks came in sleighs, wagons and on horseback. There was dancing and singing and the fiddle playing. One party reportedly lasted three days.”
Tickets are $10 per person and reservations are necessary. Call 314-409-9478 or 314-838-4536 for tickets or for more information.
