Christmas in Old Town Follows Christmas in Old Florissant

city hall holiday treeChristmas in Florissant activities will run consecutive weekends as the city has two events to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

The first event, called Christmas in Florissant, is presented by Historic Florissant, Inc. and will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30. It includes a tour of charming houses and businesses, all decorated for the holidays. Light refreshments will be served at most locations. Included will be some new stops and places, some which have not been open for tours in a long time.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the annual “Christmas in Old Town Florissant” festivities will begin at 2 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Florissant City Hall with seasonal music and other activities. Santa Claus will arrive at 2:15 p.m. to visit with children.

Other activities at city hall will include craft making, cookie decorating, and face painting with the Valley of Flowers Queen and court.

In addition, Cookie the Clown will be making balloon sculptures, and there will be Christmas stories, cookies, hot cocoa, and seasonal music.

Shops will be open along rue St. Francois to help celebrate. Be sure to visit: Brief Reflections, Stems Florist, Sandie’s Interiors, Blue Moon Stencil Shop, Florissant Old Town Marketplace Children’s Boutique, Village of the Blue Rose, Korte’s Frames and Gifts, Dooley’s Florist and Gifts, and Henefer’s Jewelers. City Diner, de.lish, Helfer’s Deli, Old Town Donuts and Hendel’s Market Café will also be open.

The day will end with the tree lighting at 5 p.m. Mayor Tom Schneider will lead guests outside to the tree on the city hall lawn, where he will flip the switch and light the tree for the holiday season in Florissant.
