Rams Give Us a Wild Ride; Mike Matheny Still the Right Guy For Manager

On Sunday afternoon I was preparing to get my column ready by talking about the domination of the Seahawks by the Rams. Then by halftime, I was changing the script. By the end of the game I was going to write the same old column, the Rams blow another one.

All the Rams needed after the sneak attack “Mountaineer” kickoff TD return was a first down and then lay on the ground covering the ball. But the unthinkable happened and the Rams fumbled with seconds to go.

I went storming upstairs saying, here we go again and then the kids starting yelling downstairs that we had won. I came back down and by some graces of the football heavens above, the call was that the Rams recovered the ball. After watching the replay several times, the Rams were given that game.

The Rams need to take a win where they can get it at. How can this team rack up such big leads early on and then just totally fall apart. Or fall behind and then come back late. If this team could play consistent football we would be one heck of a squad.

Predicting Missouri World Series winner

The World Series is in full swing right now and although I wrote this before game one started, I will say that the Royals will be up 2 games to one right now. I love the passion that Kansas City has about the game. If they keep that passion they will win easily. They just can’t let the hype get to them, especially early in the series.

I heard that these are two of the worst record teams to play in the Series with neither team winning 90 games and both being one-game to get in the playoff Wild Card games. But does that really matter, they made it. Hopefully it will be a great series and a winner for our western neighbors

All the talk of not having Mike Matheny as the manager of the Cardinals anymore is ridiculous. Anybody who feels this way is looney. So he didn’t pull the right strings with his overworked bullpen late in game 5. As Matheny said you go with the arm that you feel gives you your best shot of winning. He apparently was wrong this time.

This guy has taken the team to the playoffs three years in a row and not always with the best of teams. I think he should have a new long term contract and people should sit back and enjoy the ride instead of criticizing.

You have to remember though that many people who criticize any coach or player are ones that have never excelled at a sport and don’t realize what it take to perform at that level. Remember coaches and teams can’t win every single game and there is a lot to be learned from losing at all levels. It builds character and desire to be the best.
