McCluer North, Incarnate Word Host Girls Tennis Districts September 29

McCluer North High School and Incarnate Word Academy are two of the 32 high schools that will host Girls Tennis Districts beginning with the Team Tournament on Sept. 29 while the individual Singles and Doubles Tournaments will possibly start after the Team Tournament ends, somewhere between Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, and closes by Oct. 4.

Competing at McCluer North in Class Two, District Four are Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer and Ritenour. Competing at Incarnate Word in Class One, District Five are Lutheran North, McCluer South-Berkeley, Normandy Collaborative, Riverview Gardens and University City.

Tournament pairings were to be set by Sept. 24 and as of 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 the seeds and pairings were not available. The team matches will be at either the tournament host site or sites of the higher seeded teams. Each team must have at least four players and team matches include up to six singles and three doubles matches with the first team to win five matches wins the team match.

District winners advance to Team Sectionals Oct. 11. The Class Two, District Four will play at the Class One, District One Winner while the Class One, District Five winner hosts the Team Sectionals. The Team Sectional Winners advance to the State Team Tournament, Oct. 16 at Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield.

Each tennis team needs to send two singles players and two doubles teams for the Individual Tournaments and the top two singles players and top two doubles teams advance from Districts to Sectionals, Oct. 6-8. Class One, District Five will play at Westminster Christian Academy while McCluer North host the Individual Sectional. The State Singles and Doubles Tournament will be Oct. 17-18 at the Cooper Complex.

GIRLS GOLF — CLASS TWO, DISTRICT THREE AT CRYSTAL SPRINGS QUARRY — Four Florissant Valley Area high schools — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West and McCluer North — will be in the Class Two, District Three Girls Golf Tournament Sept. 30, and time to be announced. It will be a 12-team tournament, including Incarnate Word Academy, at the Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Club in Maryland Heights and hosted by Pattonville High.

The top two District team finishers and the top 15 individuals from District teams finishing third or lower advance to Class Two, Sectional Two, Oct. 6 at Woods Fort Golf Course, hosted by Troy Buchanan. The top two Sectional team finishers and top 12 individuals from Sectional team finishing third or lower advance to Class Two State, Oct. 13-14 at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club, Joplin.
