Churches Seek Donations For Thanksgiving Dinner

Organizers for the annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner are seeking help in planning the free dinner. Businesses, organizations, and individuals are being asked for support by providing financial assistance, donations of supplies or gift certificates. Especially needed are new socks, gloves, blankets, toilet paper and other personal care items to those in need.

The 10th annual dinner is sponsored by members of St. Sabina Catholic Church, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Halls Ferry Christian Church, St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and St. Angela Merici Catholic Church.

This free dinner is for anyone in the community who would enjoy a delicious meal and good company. With the help of many businesses, last year organizers were able to serve a complete Thanksgiving Dinner and offered to-go-boxes to over 400 people. Also distributed were personal care bags, McDonald’s food certificates, and attendance prizes.

The dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at St. Ferdinand Church, 1765 Charbonier Rd.

Donations and checks may be sent to: The Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner, P.O. Box 1076, Florissant, Mo. 63031 Attn: Pat von Nida, chairperson. For more information or to have a donation picked up, call Pat von Nida at 838-4144 or Cathy Wombacher at 837-5349.
