AN Eagles 16 Baseball Start Season 13-6, Lead SLABA 16

AN Eagles 16 (and under) Baseball are off to a 13-6 start as of June 23, and that does not include a scheduled June 10 game against Edwardsville 15, and a 9-1 record against St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association 16 puts the Eagles 16 on top of SLABA 16.

Offensively the Eagles 16 team, in 19 games, has scored 148 runs, a 7.4 per-game average. Defensively the Eagles have allowed 90 runs to score, averaging 4.5 per game.

So far the Eagles 16 team has played SLABA 16 games or Tournament games. Unofficially in three tournament games played the Eagles 16 are 4-6. The Eagles will open another tournament July 4 at Lutheran High School North against Maryland Heights Junior Legion.

Adam Goss is the statistical leader for the Eagles 16 team through June 23. In 73 plate appearances Goss was batting .536, had a .639 on-base percentage, 28 of the 30 hits have been singles, scored 26 runs, had 33 total bases, walked 13 times and has stolen 13 bases while not being caught.

Matt Mellring had four doubles, Josh White has 14 runs batted in, and Jakes Witte was slugging .590 with three triples and was hit by pitch four times (sharing that honor with Justin Porter).

In pitching Goss, Mellring, Brendan Anderson, Connor Burnett and Hunter Wood each has two wins. Wood and Zach Moravec has started four games, Burnett has completed three games he started and has a 1.40 earned run average in 20 innings pitched, Wood has pitched 24 innings with 19 strikeouts. Goss has yet allowed an earned run.

In fielding White made 63 put outs while Goss has 41 assists. There are no home runs so far.

SLABA (EAGLES) 15 — Through June 24 the AN Eagles 15 team is 6-4 in SLABA 15 games, but is 9-10 overall. In eight tournament games played the Eagles 15 were 3-5. On July 4-5 the Eagles 15 team has three games in two days — the Capitals 16 team at 10 a.m., and the Alton Junior Legion team at 12:30 on July 4 and the Maryland Heights Junior Legion team at 10 a.m. on July 5 — and these games are to be played at the Hazelwood Sports Complex.

The Eagles 15 have scored 98 runs, 5.2 per game, while allowing 111, a 5.8 average.

Four players — Blake Bellinger, Dimitri Frank, Sal Pellerito and Trevor Keathley — have a home run each through June 24. Bellinger is batting .517, slugging .862, with 25 total bases, 15 hits including five doubles and six stolen bases, Pellerito has driven in 11 runs and Travis Isom has and on-base percentage of .560 scored 10 runs and walked eight times.

In pitching Frank has two wins in three starts with a 1.68 earned run average with 19 strikeouts in 16.7 innings. In fielding Zachary Homfeld has made 25 put outs without an error, Pellerito also has made 25 put outs and Bellinger has 13 assists.

SLABA (EAGLES) 17 — Through June 25 the Eagles 17 team is 2-4 in SLABA 17 games, 5-8 overall and in seven tournament games (two tournaments) the Eagles 17 is 3-4. The Eagles have scored 52 runs, four per game, while allowing 100, a 7.7 average.

Offensively Josh Brewer is batting and slugging .500 has a .714 on base percentage, Tony Lanzone is slugging .769 with eight runs and 11 hits including four doubles a triple and a homer, Andrew Peterson has seven runs batted in, Brice Bube has four stolen bases and Rick Garner has seven walks.

In pitching Kellen Cushing has two wins and nine strikeouts. In fielding Garner has 22 put outs while Lanzone has 26 assists.

SLABA (EAGLES) 18 — Prior to June 25 and not counting originally scheduled games on May 24, 25, and June 22, 24 the Eagles 18 team is 3-6 in SLABA 18 games, 1-5 in tournament games and 4-13 overall. The Eagles 18 have scored 66 runs, a 3.7 per game average, while allowing 152, 8.4 per game.

Offensively, Conner Buenger is batting .360 while Ethan Wallace is slugging .485 with a .457 on base percentage, Wallace and Adam Frank have scored nine runs each, Hunter Martin has driven in nine runs, Joe Hardy has 15 hits, Wallace has 12 walks and Joe Hardy has four stolen bases.

In pitching Martin has 27 strikeouts while in fielding Wallace has 39 putouts and Frank has 29 assists.
