F-F District No Longer Taking Normandy Transfer Students

Following a decision by the State of Missouri to replace the unaccredited Normandy School District with the newly formed Normandy School Collaborative on July 1, the Ferguson-Florissant School District has announced it will return transfer students to Normandy.

The Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education voted unanimously to uphold a district policy which prohibits non-resident students from enrolling in the district except under certain provisions, such as the Missouri law which permits students from unaccredited districts to enroll in accredited schools. The non-accredited status of the Normandy School Collaborative makes its students ineligible to transfer under the law.

“The Board believes in the value of strong community schools, and we want to see all school districts succeed,” said Robert Chabot, president of the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education. “We are encouraged by the plans for the Normandy School Collaborative to improve outcomes for Normandy students, and we are dedicated to maintaining the strength and stability of Ferguson-Florissant to benefit the region as a whole.”

The Ferguson-Florissant School District received 105 students from the Normandy School District during the 2013-2014 school year. Ferguson-Florissant will work with the Normandy students and their families in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
