Florissant Civic Center Theatre Announces Late Summer/Fall Shows

The Florissant Civic Center Theatre has announced upcoming shows. Pageants, musicals, dramas and children’s shows are all on the schedule.   Lobby Box Office Hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon. and Fri., 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tues., Wed., and Thurs. The Box Office will close each day from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for lunch.

Missouri Cameo Club Presents Ms. Missouri Senior America Pageant

July 13 – 2 p.m.

This year’s theme is ‘Puttin’ on the Glitz’ as the pageant celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Missouri Cameo Club.  Lovely ladies will compete for the title of Ms. Missouri Senior America.  The four areas of competition are a personal interview before the pageant, a talent presentation on stage, poise in an evening gown and her philosophy of life.

Admission is $15 in advance, $12 for groups of 10 or more; $17 at door

Hawthorne Players Present The Wiz

Aug. 1, 2, 8, 9 at 8 p.m., Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.

The Wiz, a jazzed, soul-infused modern retelling of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” was nominated for nine Drama Desk Awards (winning four including Outstanding Musical) and eight Tony Awards (winning seven including Best Original Score and Best Musical).  The book by William F. Brown follows Baum’s classic fantasy:  A tornado rips Dorothy from her Kansas home and drops her in OZ squarely on the Wicked Witch of the East in the midst of Munchkinland. The beloved score by Charlie Smalls includes hits like “Ease on Down the Road,” “Brand New Day,” “Believe in Yourself” and “Home.”

Admission is $20for adults and $18 for Seniors/Students; Group rates available.

Miss Metro St. Louis/Miss River City Pageant

Sept. 6. Junior Pageant at 3:30 p.m. , Teen/Miss Pageant at 7.

The Miss Metro St Louis/ Miss River City pageants are preliminary pageants to the Miss America Pageant. The Miss America Scholarship Pageant is the largest scholarship provider for women in America. It’s provided over 45 million dollars in scholarships annually. Phases of competition include: interview, physical fitness, evening gown and talent. Admission:  $10

Florissant Valley Men of Harmony Present The Florissant Follies

Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

An evening of a capella music, comedy skits and hijinks as the Florissant Valley Men of Harmony present “The Florissant Follies.”  It’s a variety show filled with some favorite bits and music from the past along with some new ones we’re sure you will love.  Audience participation is expected as our esteemed judge polishes up “the gong” for those acts and jokes he deems unbefitting to discriminating audience.  The featured quartet “Rivertown Sound.”

Admission: $12, $8 for groups of ten or more
