In addition to the queen and court, winners in several categories in the Valley of Flowers parade were announced immediately after the parade Sunday in the Knights of Columbus pavilion.
Alex Phifer was named 2014 Valley of Flowers Queen. 1st Runner up is Libby Freesmeier, and Special Maids are Kylie Johns, Emily Haarmann, and Jackie Gamma.
In the best theme unit category, the winner was Cannoli’s Restaurant for their float featuring their queen candidate Libby Freesmeier. Second place went to Don Henefer Jewelers for their float with their queen candidate Alex Phifer, and third place went to St. Rose Philippine Duchesne parish.
The best decorated car was VFW Post 4105 with their queen candidate Kylie Johns.
The best organization float first place went to St. Mark’s Methodist Church. Second place went to Sacred Heart Church for their float featuring their queen candidate Megan Purgahn. Third place went to Trinity Catholic High School.
In the best commercial unit category, first place went to St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center. Second place went to Gator’s Bar for their float with their queen candidate Gabrielle Taylor, and third place went to Wedding Wonderland.
In the best antique car category, Welsch Heating and Cooling won first place and Old Town Donuts won second for their float with their queen candidate Taylor Rook.
Joe Cohen won the best antique vehicle award.
The first place for best walking unit went to Gateway Precision Lawn Chair Krewe. Second place went to Dance Plus.
The winners of the Pretty Baby contest were also announced Sunday. In the personality category, the winner was Kylee Hellrung, daughter of Patti and Ryan Hellrung. In the popularity category, the winner was Molly Barteau, daughter of Ellen and Mitch Barteau.
