Christian Hospital May Community Programs include the following:

Cinco de Mammo-thon Sunday, May 3 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Northwest Healthcare, 1225 Graham Road in Florissant.

Reservations are required. To schedule a mammogram during the Mammo-thon call 314-747-WELL (9355). Make sure to mention that you want to be a part of the Mammo-Thon.

Experience the most pampered mammogram you’ve ever had. Enjoy a comfortable, relaxing, fun atmosphere, convenient times and if you can’t afford a mammogram, the hospital may be able to help.

American Red Cross Blood Drive. May 7 from noon – 4 p.m. in the Northwest Healthcare Community Room, 1225 Graham Rd in Florissant.

10th Annual Hats Off to Women – HATtatude! at Christian Hospital, 11133 Dunn Rd. on Thursday, May 29 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. Screenings from 5:30 – 8, Lectures from 6 – 9 . This event fills-up fast, so make your reservation today, by calling 314-747-WELL or 1-877-747-WELL.

This is your chance to show off that awesome hat. Grab a hat and a friend and make plans to attend this fun and informative event. The ladies of The Heart Care Group will be there to educate you on what you need to know about heart disease. Meet Donald Buck, MD, Christian Hospital’s new plastic surgeon; and be entertained and learn all about attitude or as we say HATtitude, by keynote speaker Linda Larson.

A goody bag will be given to all participants and a light, heart-healthy dinner will be served. Free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose screenings will be available.

Healthy Cooking Class on May 8 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. and on May 22 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Christian Hospital Diabetes Institute, 11155 Dunn Rd.

Learn how to make affordable and delicious meals with a registered dietitian. The presentation will include taste-testing, handouts and recipe cards. Space is limited to first 25 so call to reserve your spot.

Motivational Classes. Christian Hospital Diabetes Institute (Building 1, Suite 101 N). Registration is required: call 314.653.4545 to register.

• Living Well with Heart Failure . Learn more about heart failure, your medications, monitoring your weight, what to eat, and how to cook meals with less salt that still taste good. Free.

• Living Well with Diabetes. Are you struggling with what to eat? Are your blood sugars out of control? Our staff are experts in diabetes education. Come learn more about diabetes, preventing complications, and what to eat. This class is billed to your insurance.

• Preventing Diabetes. Have you been told your blood sugars are a little high? Or borderline diabetes?  Pre-diabetes? This class is for you. We will teach you how to prevent diabetes and help you change your life. This class is billed to insurance.

OASIS Peer Led Discussion Groups. Laugh, reminisce and learn with OASIS during this discussion group program. Enjoy fellowship and discussion on a variety of topics while making new friends or reconnecting with old ones. Attend one, or attend every month. Center for Senior Renewal. The Center for Mental Health’s Center for Senior Renewal, conveniently located on the first floor of the Detrick Building, provides day treatment programs for older adults dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, loss and early signs of dementia. The Center for Senior Renewal provides a comfortable, home-like atmosphere staffed with compassionate and experienced mental health professionals. For more information, call 314-653-5123.

Stroke Support Group. A Stroke Support Group meets every first Wednesday of the month in the Center for Senior Renewal, Detrick Building 1st floor, from 3-4 p.m. For more information, please contact Lisa Erlinger at 314-653-5331.

Alcohol and Drug Information Meeting. A certified substance abuse counselor talks about the addiction of alcohol and drugs, warning signs and symptoms, treatment and recovery, how families are affected by addiction and common problems families experience during the recovery process. Meetings are free.

Alcoholics Anonymous Group 109 meets in the 11th floor conference room at Christian Hospital. This is an open meeting for alcoholics, drug addicts and their family and friends.
