Hattman Praised for Six Years of Service to STLCC

Melissa Hattman was recognized for her six years of service to St. Louis Community College at the Board of Trustees March 20 meeting.

Hattman, who was elected to the board in 2008 as a Subdistrict 1 representative, chose not to seek reelection when her term expires in April. Subdistrict 1 includes includes the Hazelwood, Ferguson/Florissant, Riverview Gardens, Jennings, Pattonville, Ritenour, University City, Normandy, Clayton and Ladue school districts.

Hattman, the director of community college relations at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, served as board chair in 2011-12, and as vice chair in 2010-11. She was an associate member of Governance and Bylaws, and Diversity Committees with the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), as well as an ACCT voting delegate and member of the Regional Nominating Committee. She also presented at state and national conferences on servant leadership, workforce intelligence and global education.

“I want to thank all of you for what I’ve learned on this journey over the past six years,” Hattman said. “Education is the answer, and STLCC offers access to education like no one else can.”
