Hazelwood West Hosts Three

Pre-Season Sports Jamborees

Hazelwood West will host three pre-season interscholastic scrimmages, or jamborees, before the start of the 2018 fall season.

On Aug. 20, Hazelwood West will hold a boys soccer jamboree and a girls volleyball jamboree. Boys Soccer includes McCluer North, McCluer High and Ritenour while Volleyball includes Hazelwood Central and one or two other teams. On Aug. 21, West will host softball on two diamonds with Trinity Catholic, Pattonville and St. Charles West.

McCLUER NORTH will host a three-team Girls Volleyball Jamboree on Thursday, Aug. 16. Competing at McCluer North are Hazelwood East and McCluer South-Berkeley.

FOOTBALL FRIDAY, AUG. 17 — Hazelwood East and Hazelwood West is at Fort Zumwalt North with Warrenton. McCluer North is at Francis Howell High with Ladue Horton Watkins and defending Class Six State Champion CBC. McCluer High is at Kirkwood with Troy-Buchanan and Trinity is at Pattonville

BOYS SOCCER, SATURDAY, AUG. 18 — Hazelwood Central is a Fort Zumwalt North with Lake St. Louis Liberty and Parkway North while Trinity is at Whitfield with Bishop DuBourg.

   SOFTBALL — McCluer North is at Hillsboro Friday while Incarnate Word Academy is in Sullivan Saturday (with Rockwood-Marquette).

   GIRLS VOLLEYBALL — Saturday Incarnate Word is at Visitation.

   JAMBOREES — After a minimum of nine pre-season practices, high schools can conduct three- or four-team one-day scrimmages or jamborees. Jamborees are team sports scrimmages with limitations pending on each sport. Football and Boys Soccer have time limits, Softball has innings and Volleyball is on points and/or sets.

Football hosts know about time limits, In Soccer it is 35 minutes for each three-team scrimmages, 25 for each four team. In Softball, three-team scrimmages are a minimum of four innings and a maximum of eight while four-teams have a minimum of three innings and a maximum of nine (a time limit is at the school’s discretion). In Volleyball, while there are point caps at the host school’s discretion, the three team scrimmages are four sets (two against each team) up to 21 points while in four teams have six sets (two against each team) up to 15.
