World’s Largest Museum Brings Titanic Movie to Life With New Exhibit

BY BOB LINDSEY

Titanic, the world’s largest museum attraction on 76 Country Blvd in Branson, has launched a whole new attraction built around the James Cameron Oscar-winning movie.

The new exhibit includes the red dress worn by Rose as she climbed Titanic’s railing, the full-length pink coat Rose worn during the sinking sequences of the movie, scrips and behind the scene photos, and the actual Oscars won by Cameron and his film crew. But the centerpiece is the unique heart-shaped blue sapphire necklace worn by Rose. It has 215 diamonds totaling 16 carats and 155-sacrat Sapphire. The necklace is valued at $250,000.

John Joslyn, the owner of the hottest museum in Branson, was the second person to put a $6 million dollar Titanic expedition together and he was the first person to produce six hours of Titanic television specials. He said the reason he has access to all the movie memorabilia is because of his long time friendship to director Cameron. They were students together in film school back in southern California.

Nominated for 14 Academy Awards, it tied the 1951 movie All About Eve for most nominations and tied the 1959 Ben Hur film with most Oscar wins at 11.

“We feel the movie has earned its own place in movie history and like Titanic herself, will stand forever as tribute,” said Joslyn.

The Titanic Museum, a landlocked ship built on a moat half the scale to the original, is a 90-minute walk-through experience with over 400 artifacts.

You enter the attraction as a Titanic passenger through an iceberg and wind through various rooms and exhibits. You’ll see two historically correct Titanic models, a 26-foot recreation of the deteriorating bow section (as seen in the film), view clothing worn by the first-class passengers, see a huge replica of Titanic propeller , see the Marconi wireless station and the First Class Dining and state rooms.

You can sit in a lifeboat and listen to passenger stories of survival, walk through the beautiful oak Giant Staircase just like in the film, and conclude at the Memorial Room where you learn the fate of the passenger whose name appears on your boarding pass.

This attraction is open year-round, daily opening at 9 a.m. with special events throughout the years such Titanic Dinner parties, Christmas parties and New Year’s Eve parties.
