Northside/Southside Metrolink Study Meeting Downtown Feb. 24

The public is invited to an informational discussion of MetroLink expansion study currently underway; however, there is a charge to attend the meeting. Citizens for Modern Transit and the St. Louis Regional Chamber will host the event at the St. Louis Regional Collaboration Center in downtown St. Louis on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m.

Dan Meyers, project manager from AECOM, the consulting firm leading the study, will lead the discussion. Meyers will provide information on the background and scope of the study and answer questions from those in attendance. The18-month study examines a portion of the route known as the Northside/Southside.

One proposed route runs through Downtown St. Louis, extends north along 14th Street, North Florissant, and Natural Bridge to near I-70 at Goodfellow Boulevard. Another proposed route runs from Downtown south along Jefferson Avenue slightly past the City limits to Bayless Road at I-55. The study will also identify and analyze an alternative to the Northside Locally Preferred Alternative alignment that would serve the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency site.

“The implementation of this Northside/Southside MetroLink study represents an important step in our efforts to take transit to the next level in the St. Louis community,” said Kim Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern. “We will also be hosting an event to highlight the St. Louis County MetroLink study this summer.”

The cost to attend is $10 for CMT members and $20 for non-members, with advance registration available online at www.cmt-stl.org.
